What is Arcadia

Welcome to Arcadia, a blog dedicated to my game development projects, childhood memories around game development and even the occasional look at retro gaming hardware.  While I have one main game that is in the works, just for fun I've also been coding retro-games in Python.

About me

I come from an era before the monsterous entertainment industry we have these days existed, in a time where inventing and writing your own games was new, exciting and just what everybody did in the comfort of their own home for fun. But rather then pad out this page, you can read more about myself and my nerdy history on the about me page here on the blog.

Right now I'm involved in the 3D computer graphics industry - where I've been passionately working for over 20 years.  I've done a bit of everything from working in a studio, freelancing, book writing, running a national user group and now teaching.  I have more about this side of me (including some of my retro-remake projects) on my other blog.

Why this blog

Here in New Zealand, the games industry is really starting to grow exponentially - and its inspired (well, ressurected) that inner coder to seriously get involved.  I look forward to sharing my experiments, projects and progress here.
